Lahmu and Lahamu: The Twin Gods

Lahmu and Lahamu were the first twin primordial gods created by Tiamat. Lahamu is the female and Lahmu the male. These deities mated and birthed Anshar and Kishar. The word “Lahmu” means “the hairy one”. They are described as hairy or muddy. They have three pairs of curls on their head and are usually naked except for a triple sash. According to the mythological text, Enuma Elish, Lahamu, and Lahmu were considered vague gods that played no significant roles in subsequent myths. They represent the silt of the sea bed, the twin horizon of the sky, and earth. They were always mentioned together.

Originally, Lahamu was a spirit of the river and had rule over wild animals. Lahmu is often seen fighting lions and other creatures. He is depicted as a household protective spirit or you can call him a guardian monster of the Assyrian kings. He is shown on a cylinder holding up a lion. An artwork that depicts this deity as the Bull Man or Kusarikku.

Appearances:

Lahmu is often depicted as a fierce bearded giant with long hairs. His flowing hair symbolizes water. Unlike other dragon gods, Lahmu has no image with a horned tiara. Sometimes, Lahamu is seen as a serpent while other times, she appears as a woman with a red sash and six curls on her head. These pairs are a representation of the zodiac, parent stars, or constellations.

If summoned during a full moon, Lahmu might appear as a dark hunter, clothed with wolf skin, wearing a horned helmet and with his face shifting into a skull. He holds a chalice in one hand and a spear in the other and goes about drinking the blood of slain victims.

WORKING WITH LAHAMU AND LAHMU

When invoked, Lahmu appears in the form of a fiery demon warrior with long flaming hair. He appears on battlefields. He might be holding a serpent-shaped staff in his hand and his presence cast lightning. Sometimes, his arms appear as lightning bolts and he can be extremely violent. He endows the practitioner with the ability to use fire and lightning during magical warfare. Sometimes, he appears with his twin sister who wields opposite forces to his own.

Lahmu fills the consciousness of the practitioner with a great force. The feeling is like being filled with fire and electricity. It is an erotic and ecstatic feeling. He bites his forearm and asks the practitioner to feed on his blood essence while he drinks his own. This will merge the practitioner’s consciousness with that of the demon. An invocation rite with this demon leaves you empowered, focused, and excited. He inspires ecstatic visions and dreams of forgotten shrines located in the desert. He also gives the practitioner visions of rivers of blood flowing into underground temples, with altars surrounded by rings of fire.

His favorite offerings are blood and sexual fluid of the practitioner. Due to this spirit’s sexual and masculine aspects, he might belong to the level of Ghagiel.

Lahamu represents death and entropy. She has a cold energy and manifests with visions of filth and waste. She is also a ruthless vampire that feeds on the life essence of her victim. When evoked, she appears in the form of a huge spider that has a human head, six arms, and torso. Her arms have blades instead of hands and forearms. Her powers can be used for personal empowerment or destructive purposes. Lahamu appears rarely and it is always easier to establish contact with her twin brother.

By the Blood of the Dragon which is my own Essence,

And by the Key of the Night, I call you, Lahmu! Fiery Warrior, Fearsome Demon of Lust and Fury!

Come from forgotten temples, And from blood-dyed battlefields,

Behind the Gate of the Setting Sun!

Come with flaming lashes which burn the earth, And scourge the souls of the living!

I offer myself on the altar of your sexual sorcery,

And I drink your venomous blood, My body is a vessel for your living fire!

Arise with tongues of flames and lightning,

Penetrate my soul from within, Stir my blood with your seething breath,

And fortify my flesh with your fearsome essence!

Grant me the power to weaken and destroy my enemies!

Devour their vital force, Feast on their tortured souls,

And leave them writhing in burning agony!

Enter this Temple of Flesh, Intoxicate my Soul with your primal hunger,

And enflame my dreams with terror, lust, and ecstasy!

I invoke you in the name of the Dragon!

In Nomine Draconis! Ho Drakon Ho Megas!

Going further:

Burn the parchment with the sigil and as the smoke arises, it shall carry your wish to be united with the spirit’s essence to the planes. At this point, let your consciousness merge with the essence of this demon in sexual ecstatic communion.

Visualize how the spirit enters your body through the third eye and while his flames ascend and coil around your spine, offer yourself to be enflamed with the fiery essence of the spirit.

At this point, let the visions flow freely and continue to explore the powers of this demon which are now yours to command. Let your focus be on your goal. You can use the energy of this demon for self-empowerment, and malefic sorcery.

For example, if your goal is to harm someone, visualize yourself in the form of a furious demon warrior with hands filled with lightning. Imagine that your target is standing in front of you, then strike him through the third eye and the throat. This will make him weak, blind, and mute. Visualize how the fire tears off the protective layers of your victim’s aura and consumes all of his defensive powers. Finally, rip off your victim and suck as much vital force as you wish. While your victim collapses and groans in pain, be ecstatic, and enjoy this feeling.

You can leave him on the verge of death. Whatever is your intention, just envision it and it will be done. When you wish, you can end the working and return to your mundane consciousness. Finally, thank the spirit and close the ritual.

Warning:

Rituals open the gateways of the soul and those doors can never be closed again. For that reason, I strongly advise that casual experimentation with these rituals should be avoided. Due to the complex nature of this ritual, I would suggest that you have some experience before practicing this ritual. Also, whether you are experienced or not, kindly tread with caution because these are not designed for dabblers. They are designed for serious pathworking.
