Hicpacth, the Eleventh Servitor of Duke Syrach
Hicpacth is another of the eighteen servitor demons of Duke Syrach. He is mentioned within the Secrets of Solomon as well as the Grimorium Verum. Hicpacth is the eleventh demon within this hierarchy placing him somewhere within the middle. The Plangiere edition of the Grimorium Verum states the following regarding this demon: “Hicpacth will bring you a person in an instant, though he be far away.” Other mainstream grimories however do not make mention of this demon serving to add obscurity to his identity.
Like the other demons within his hierarchy, there is a notable lack of information regarding this demon. His powers of retrieval can however be used to the conjuror’s convenience or advantage. As long as he is invoked properly, the risk of malevolence – punitive or otherwise – is reduced. This is especially important considering that the true nature of this demon is unknown within demonology circles. In so doing, one therefore increases the chance of a desirable outcome while simultaneously protecting themselves from possible malevolence.
The ritual for calling forth this demon is the same one used in the summoning of the other servitor demons of Duke Syrach. It is a fairly difficult ritual which is outlined in the Grimorium Verum. This ritual asks the medium to avoid all forms of sin or have any sexual contact for three days. After this, the conduction of the last steps in the process of the invocation of Hicpacth can be done. This is the most basic ritual for invoking the eighteen inferior demons under the servitude of Duke Syrach as other rituals can also be used to varied ends.
Among the other names which this demon is referred to by are Hepath and Hiecpacth – these are hardly ever used within the context of practice however. Hicpacth’s placement towards the middle of the hierarchy notwithstanding, this demon is still potent and must be accorded the proper respect shown to all demons during invocation rituals. The lack of information regarding his true nature is also more proof of the need for only experienced personnel to try summoning this demon.
History
The first instance that this demon is mentioned with recorded history is in 1517 during the publication of the Grimorium Verum by Alibek the Egyptian. The Grimorium Verum does not make mention of his origins as well. The obscurity around this demon is further compounded by the lack of connections with ancient Middle-Eastern mythology or early Graeco-Roman myths. He is quite possibly an ancient pagan god who was demonized with the spread of Christianity during the Middle Ages.
