Eurynomos was described by the Oracles of Delphi as black-blue in color like that of flies (meat flies in particular), with sharp teeth, seated on the skin of a vulture.

Some other accounts describe him with deep eyes, sharpened teeth and blackish blue skin while European demonologists tell of him as a demon with a body covered in sore. He has long sharp teeth and the fur of a fox on his back. He moves about in a crouched manner.

About:

Eurynomos is a demon of Hades who has great power and status. Some tell of him as a death demon while others speak of him as a ghoul because he enjoys the taste of rotten flesh from corpses and dead people. Eurynomos clearly states that he is not a ghoul.

This demon is often named or seen as a death god and as the “prince of death” by most European demonologists. He is regarded as Orcus or Hades in Roman mythology. Eurynomos is a flesh-eating demon who eats corpses, stripping them down to their bones. He is an artfully cunning and mischievous demon who feasts on dead pickings wherever he finds them. Some accounts give him off as a servant to Hecate (the Greek goddess of the moon) and he is well-known in Paganism.

Eurynomos is a massive glutton without any form of satisfaction to his cravings for dead flesh. It is also stated that the demon grew a “second mouth” so that he could eat up larger amounts of dead flesh with great speed. The demon rarely or never speaks at all. He is always moving from place to place in search of dead meat and corpses to consume while licking his lips in excitement and anticipation of gnawing down on another rotten flesh.

The name ‘Eurynomos’ can also be ascribed to a Greek female divinity who created the cosmos. She was later dethroned by Rhea and was thrown into either Tartaros or an ocean which is closely linked with the underworld. Eurynomos as the flesh-eating demon was so feared by the locals that they changed their funerary customs to avoid leaving the bodies of their loved ones as food to the greedy eater. Several churches as well decided to cremate corpses for their protection.

Abilities:

  • Eurynomos has the tendency to corrupt or cause things around him to decay.
  • He incites new beginning and precedes over the renewal of life.

  • He helps individuals in getting away with crime and framing the innocent.
  • He is a black magickal initiator and teacher thus he calls himself “That Which Hunts the Hunters.”
  • He’s the sempiternal protector of children.
  • As a slaughterous destroyer, he roots out all who stand in opposition to Hecate.

Working with Eurynomos:

This demon is not one that can be randomly summoned. In the grimoire entitled Queen of Hell, Mark Allan Smith writes of Eurynomus as follows:

“A work with Eurynomous can at first leave you feeling tired as his vast energy pushes the physical form from within, coursing through the flesh as though it was expanding from the inside. This roaring fury is the current of immense power that flows from this Dark God and though He is far from a passive being, Eurynomous is a close ally and powerful teacher to those on the path of the Dark Goddess.”

Let us read a user’s experience while working with Eurynomous.

“It was a random decision, to try a scrying session with a black surface. I stared into the surface at a time, with a flashlight. Nothing more, nothing less, a candle would have been too risky. At that time, I still lived at home with a religious orthodox Christian stepmother & my non-religious father.

Nothing happened during the first minutes, nothing more than when you stare too long into a mirror and your face starts to distort itself into some shapes. But then my face split itself, into a black half, & into a white half. I got so intrigued by the process that I didn’t stop staring then suddenly it happened.

Everything changed within the surface, everything went black, as if a black smoke overtook the whole surface & I wasn’t able to look through for a moment. It started to clear up, & there he stood as if I was watching from a window inside a dark, black void of nothingness with a floor.

He was a black, dark blue shimmering skinned, human-shaped creature. It was so real, I could have sworn that if I had tried to stick my hand through the surface, it would have gone through because it was just a window I looked through.

The sight of this ‘creature’ terrified me, in fact so much that I instantly stopped. I covered the surface and went to sleep, but I was terrified & scared of what I had just seen. I even questioned my sanity. What even scared me more? There was nothing that could have scared me about him, he wasn’t hostile, he was just still. He did not radiate anything anyone could consider or condemn ‘evil’.

I did research the following day, & stumbled across Eurynomos & his physical description. He is of a color between blue and black, like that of meat flies. In fact, Eurynomos was the one I never wanted to have anything to do with ever. He just ‘creeped’ me. But he engaged more with me, ‘Death’ engaged more with me while I engaged more with Necromancy.

The simple thought of his presence, his energy, & everything about him. Though, I have to admit he is a very misanthropic entity, & very much the ‘lone-wolf’ type.

I eventually stumbled across a fitting title for Eurynomos within the Lesser Key of Solomon: Prince of Death. Because he does behave noble & royal, from a distance, but in a respectful manner. I felt bad for having judged him, so poorly, so wrong, so uninformed, prejudiced by misinformation & blindness. Yet he never did any harm, never caused me torture, physical or mentally, I never felt uncomfortable around him. He was more respectful than I was ever probably. For which I still feel guilty until today.

Almost years later, I met him again in a dream, where he appeared in the form of a woman to me, and introduced himself formally with his name. And I understand it now, my consciousness has grown immensely over those several years dedicated to research on Daemonolatry and Daemonology. He has given me a great whole different understanding of Mythology, History & those entities.

He extended his hand and asked me if I’d be willing to accept his work with me, which I agreed. Not in the dream, but when I woke up. I left an offering for three days within my room for him, on the third day the plate with the offerings broke. I knew then, no more offering was necessary. He is someone I wish to involve with in my future works. “
