Bucons, Demon of Hatred
Bucons is mentioned as the first of fifteen inferior demons after the Servitor of Duke Syrach. This hierarchy actually features several of the aforementioned servitors – thirteen to be exact. Bucons is mentioned within the following major grimories: Grimorium Verum and the Dictionnaire Infernal. He is also cited as being one of the eight servitors of Hades and Sergulath. Not much else is known regarding this demon due to the lack of details regarding his historical background.
Bucons is cited as being capable of causing hate and spiteful jealousy between people of the opposite sexes. The Grimorium Verum states the following regarding this demon: “Bucon, can cause hate and spiteful jealousy between members of the opposite sexes.” As such, his office is to sow discord within a couple. This demon’s powers are obviously of a malevolent nature and can be leveraged into a potent weapon by the conjuror. The demon can thus be used to target other people’s relationships by the conjuror if they so wish.
Considering that the demon’s true nature is presently unknown, he should be regarded with caution. By showing the demon the prerequisite respect and conjuring him up properly, the likelihood of malevolence is reduced while increases the chances for a desirable outcome. This is more so considering that the predominant emotion that Bucons is associated with is hatred. He is referred to as the “Demon of Hatred” within more colloquial circles.
The ritual for calling forth Bucons is the same one used in the summoning most of the other inferior demons mentioned within the Grimorium Verum. It is outlined in the Grimorium Verum specifically for this use. The ritual asks the medium to avoid all forms of biblical sin nor have any form of sexual contact for a period of three days. After this, the last steps in the process of the invocation of the demon can be done by the medium. Despite this seeming complexity, it is the most basic ritual for invoking the inferior demons mentioned within the Grimorium Verum.
History
This demon was first mentioned within recorded history through the publication of the Grimorium Verum in the year 1817 – this would be followed by another mention in the Dictionnaire Infernal in the subsequent year of 1818. There are otherwise no correlations between this demon and ancient Middle-Eastern mythology or early Graeco-Roman stories. He was quite possibly an olden pagan god who was demonized with the advent of Christianity throughout Europe in the Middle Ages.
